My Team Matt Me (Alex) Cai | Why is a reshoot needed????? ---------------------------------------------- Where montage as a whole is concerned, montage is where there is seemingly unconnected shots are spliced together to produce further, often symbolic meaning. My first shoot didn't have enough of this as my first lunchtime montage consisted of Matt's journey to Tesco and back. 90% of the time, my video featured just him walking which was sped up to maintain the consistency. Including more unconnected shots is the main reason for a reshoot and after being successful second time lucky, we had finally met the montage criteria. |

Here is lots of sketches and notes to make up a big storyboard for a massive production. To prove how big it is, the gallery takes up almost a whole page! We were definitely in for a busy production.
Sadly!!! :( In the concluding post production stage, the loosing of some footage and the loosing of one of the three SD cards meant footage was short and having to mock up a storyline with the clips we had. By having this nightmare to finish of, it looks as though now we just doodled sketches and notes for fun, with no relevance to the topic whatsoever.

Comparison
(Is it better than the first shoot?)
(Is it better than the first shoot?)
I do feel as though my reshoot video is miles better with some distance. I say this because of delicate care in production and good solid planning in the pre-production stage. All these merged together and paid off to make a better end product of a montage.
Cutting out almost all the walking was key to making our video more successful. As a replacement we took as many shots in for example various locations (inside and outside college). This was done whilst thinking about what would make a sequence quick and snappy as well as working at the same time to make symbolic meaning. The previous shoot didn’t have this.
I would say the focus in the first shoot when it was just me and Matt was much more better throughout compared to this time round as come the end, focus was lost between I, Matt and Cai and that meant random shots including Matt being in the bush were being shot. Boredom was sensed around the team by then. The bush scene was not included as we knew this would mislead the audience.
One final point to make, on (Thursday 10 March) morning in Simon's lesson we logged into YouTube and as a whole class watched each and everyone's first montage shoots from the previous week. It was done to pick up areas of strengths and areas of improvements. I took notes on this and took it to share with our team. I am happy, I made those notes as that was another key factor in constructing our reshoot to tick the montage boxes.

Feedback... (from tutor)
. Cut out the walking.
. Include more variation in locations, events.
. Some shots are just a tad to quick for instance the entering and exiting Tesco.
. Soundtrack is just perfect. Sets the mood and tone.
. More locations this time which is good and makes it that montage like.

New Feature!!! | . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . | New Feature!!! Before any of us cracked on with editing our tutor devoted his time to show us a tool in Adobe which is useful for future references and for the Digital Editing assignment later on in the year. The technique is 'Adobe Premiere Pro's own Bins. This allows us to sort out our footage into home drive like folders. Just like a computer. This would be beneficial because it would be easier for us to find where the relevant clips are, not just in a scrambled/random order. For example I named my Bins as "inside college" and "outside college". For all my footage which was inside would go in the "inside college" bin and for all my "outside college" footage would go in the "outside college" bin.
